Open cloud technology and services firm BlueSnap has entered into a partnership with HDTV infrastructure provider RayV to bring about what they call a global, accessible and convenient online TV platform.
Explaining the rationale behind the move, the two companies point to recent surveys showing fast growth in the amount of households adopting Internet-connected TV and cite average TV Internet connection rates in Asia and Europe of 44% and 22.7% respectively. Overall, they say that 14% of all viewing is via the Internet, a figure that will grow as traditional pay-TV revenues continue to globally decline and as video entertainment will likely exceed 91% of global consumer IP traffic by 2014.
To tap into this demand, the companies are proposing cloud tv+plus a fully customisable, turnkey IPTV solution for content delivery ‘over-the-top’ in SD or HD formats with delivery to TV, Web and mobile devices including iPad, iPhone and Android applications. The TV ‘application’ is directly streamed via over-the-top (OTT) broadcasting to a TV set or via a range of set top boxes. This includes a fully interactive Web experience including HD streaming with integrated packaging, content and user management. Cloud tv+plus is also designed to take care of all back office processing, collections and authorisations.
The cloud tv+plus product bundles content directly to distributors for immediate distribution. Distribution includes immediate access through all LG connected TV sets.
The result, say the partners, is a simplified business approach, reducing overheads and with more eyeballs and revenue opportunity, with added benefits in ARPU and loyalty.
