As it furthers its credentials in the online TV and video markets, RayV Technologies is claiming to have introduced an innovative platform that revolutionises the way users view live TV and VOD content on their PCs.
The news comes just weeks after RayV announced a partnership with open cloud technology and services firm BlueSnap to bring about what they call a global, accessible and convenient online TV platform.
Aiming to raise the bar on online video quality, the company says that its new RayV Cloud TV delivers Live TV and VOD content to any platform—including PC, Mac, iOS, Android, smartphone, tablets and connected TVs —in record time.
The RayV platform receives an external feed and relays it to local servers; the signal is then shared by active users. Upon receiving the chosen content, every user passes on a small part of it to other users. Thus, anyone connected receives the entire video, eliminating buffering time. This means that there is no need to download files which increases computer security, reduces hard drive space and bandwidth overload.
The platform’s encoding technology is designed to enable an entire video content load to be delivered without downloading; users stream the chosen content, regardless of the connection speed. In addition the company says that zapping between various content channels is as immediate as flipping through browser tabs and offers genuine social viewing, synchronising itself with Facebook and the movies’ and TV series’ database.
By utilizing inactive users as ‘amplifiers’ (which contribute a small portion of their bandwidth without actually receiving the video), RayV’s platform addresses the problem of the DSL networks limited uploading speed.
